2025, the ‘Year of the Crypto IPO’? Why analysts are confident

What surprises does 2025 hold for investors?

2025, the 'Year of the Crypto IPO'? Why analysts are confident
  • Bitcoin could surpass $200,000 by 2025, with potential growth to $500,000 under U.S. initiatives.
  • 2025 is expected to be the “Year of the Crypto IPO” with major firms going public.

Bitwise, a prominent issuer of cryptocurrency ETFs, forecasted a wave of major crypto companies going public in the coming year.

Matt Hougan and Ryan Rasmussen shared these insights in their recent report titled ’10 Crypto Predictions for 2025′.

They highlighted that Circle, a leading stablecoin issuer, and Kraken, a well-established cryptocurrency exchange, could be key entrants to the public market.

Bitwise’s 2025 projections

Additionally, they predicted that Bitcoin [BTC] will surpass $200,000 by the end of 2025 and potentially exceed gold’s $18 trillion market cap by 2029.

Notably, Bitcoin could even reach $500,000 next year if the U.S. adopts Senator Cynthia Lummis’ proposal for a strategic Bitcoin reserve, acquiring over 1 million BTC within five years.

However, they made a point that even without such a reserve, Bitcoin’s potential to eclipse gold remains strong.

Meanwhile, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs, which have already seen $33.6 billion in net inflows this year, are expected to more than double the anticipated upper range of $15 billion.

Remarking on the same, Hougan and Rasmussen said,

“We expect 2025’s inflows to top that.”

This is because institutional investors are gradually increasing their Bitcoin allocations to 3%, with prominent wirehouses expected to join the market in 2025.

2025 could be the year for crypto IPO

That being said, Hougan and Rasmussen foresaw 2025 as the “Year of the Crypto IPO,” driven by a convergence of favorable factors.

They predicted that major crypto entities like Anchorage Digital, Chainalysis, and Figure will go public, reflecting rising investor interest and increasing participation.

They emphasized that improved economic conditions and a more crypto-friendly political landscape will drive this wave of initial public offerings.

How will the altcoins perform in 2025?

For the broader crypto market, Ethereum [ETH] is projected to rebound to $7,000, driven by expanding Ethereum Layer 2 activity, spot Ether ETF inflows, and the rapid growth of stablecoins and tokenized projects.

Additionally, Solana [SOL] is also expected to make significant gains, with its price predicted to surge to $750, driven by the launch of impactful projects.

Lastly, the stablecoin market is anticipated to double to $400 billion, driven by the introduction of U.S. stablecoin legislation, marking a transformative year for the cryptocurrency ecosystem.
