Eric Trump denies rumors around new crypto token launch: 'What a joke!'

Amidst rising rumors around President Donald Trump launching another cryptocurrency, Eric Trump took to X and defied all the rumours.

He said,

What a joke… This is absolutely not true. No one is launching any kind of coin. If anyone is suggesting otherwise, it’s a fraud.

This was in response to an X account under the username Whale Scan that posted,

Trump-linked tokens are under a bearish spiral

While there are no new coins being launched so far, the already launched coins linked to President Trump remain significantly below their respective all-time highs.

Official Trump [TRUMP] had reached an all-time high of $73.43 within two days of launch before entering a prolonged decline. In fact, at press time, the token was trading at $2.58.

Meanwhile, Melania Meme [MELANIA] launched two days after TRUMP suffered an even steeper decline and was trading at around $0.1074 at press time, nearly 99% below its peak.

Lastly, the World Liberty Financial [WLFI] governance token briefly reached around $0.33 but traded near $0.06 at press time, representing a decline of approximately 78% from its peak.

This coincided with Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG), which bought 11,542 BTC for $1.368 billion at an average price of $118,529, has continued selling its holdings as Bitcoin declined.

The company recently sold another 2,628 BTC for $165.07 million, reportedly locking in around $145 million in losses.

Trump’s crypto ventures under scrutiny

All this happens while Trump’s latest financial disclosure reveals how cryptocurrency became a major source of income for his business empire, with family-backed crypto ventures generating more than $1.4 billion in reported 2025 income.

Seeing all of this happen, Justin Sun, founder of TRON, has renewed his criticism of Trump-linked World Liberty Financial, warning investors about risks surrounding WLFI and its USD1 stablecoin.

Final Summary

  • While Trump and his family are not launching any new token, the existing tokens are in a slump.
  • Trump’s crypto business earnings raise questions over insider trading.
