Both companies posted job listings, with cryptocurrency and Web3 skills being a primary ask.

Google hires for stablecoin expertise β€” Is Apple heading the same way?

Stablecoins just got a vote of confidence from the two of the biggest companies in the world today! How would it impact the asset class going forward?

The big stablecoin green light

Turns out, you don’t need a press release to know where a company is headed. Sometimes, all you need is a job posting.

Google and Apple are both hiring for digital-asset roles. Google Cloud is looking for an Industry Principal Architect based in Hong Kong. The job is to help banks, exchanges and custodians tokenize RWAs across the APAC region.

The listing seeks experience with blockchain networks, smart contracts, stablecoin infrastructure and custody tech. This hire is likely to help the company’s Web3 roadmap.

Apple’s hire is less obviously crypto-related. It’s looking for an Apple Pay Financial Product Strategy Lead to work on Apple Card, Apple Cash and peer-to-peer payments. The listing doesn’t mention blockchain or crypto directly.

No confirmation, though

Does any of this mean a product is launching? No. At the end of the day, there is no official announcement.

However, it’s clear that stablecoins and tokenized deposits are becoming skills that big tech companies actually need.

Google Cloud already teamed up with CME Group in 2025. This was to test tokenization and blockchain payments. Samsung also recently said Galaxy phones will get stablecoin features built into Samsung Wallet.

AMBCrypto previously reported that the ECB has launched Pontes: a platform letting banks settle tokenized asset transactions using central-bank euros. This is built for institutions like Deutsche Bank and Santander.

This comes amongst warnings from the ECB, about dollar-backed stablecoins eating into commercial banks’ deposits. So while the big tech firms might bring consumer facing stablecoin medium, the ECB is taking a different route.

Final Summary

  • Google and Apple are hiring for stablecoin and tokenization roles.
  • The ECB countered with Pontes, a central-bank settlement platform.
