Why PYTH crypto’s 10% price rally could extend beyond $0.089
PYTH price spikes by about 10% after breaking above $0.089 as Open Interest, Funding Rates and long positioning increase.
PYTH Network [PYTH] has been in recovery following a bounce off from a zone of confluence between an EMA support and a demand zone at around $0.072. At the time of writing, PYTH prices had recorded a 10% daily surge, as the token made a continuation bullish push above its recent swing high of $0.089.
While the breakout is positive for the short-term outlook, it will be critical to hold on to the regained price level for any further rallies.
On the other hand, increasing Open Interest (OI), growing Funding Rates, and long position domination show that derivatives traders are expecting more gains. Can these market indicators help drive the PYTH rally further?

Rising OI signals growing derivatives exposure
The network’s OI has increased alongside PYTH’s price action by more than 10% to $17.28 million. The alignment and timing of the developments suggests that traders are adding exposure to the futures market rather than simply closing existing positions.
This combination can support a rally when fresh positions align with sustained buying pressure. However, OI measures outstanding contracts, not buying activity alone. However, rising OI could also increase liquidation risk if the market reverses.

That is not all; PYTH’s Funding Rates and long-position dominance provide additional context. The network Funding Rate has recorded a week of positive gains, suggesting that  perpetual futures prices are higher than the spot prices from the increased bullish demand.

At the same time, long positions accounts for 67% of the total market exposure. The resulting increase buying pressure could amplify the current bullish run.
Although these signals support the current recovery, an increasingly crowded long trade could leave PYTH vulnerable to a sharp pullback.

Can PYTH sustain its bullish momentum?
As long as the breakout level of $0.089 is maintained and derivatives positioning continues to provide backing for the bullish bias, there is a potential for PYTH to take the gains even further towards other levels of resistance.
Alternatively, should the demand ease or there be any change in leveraged positioning, the result could be profit-taking, which may ultimately negate the breakout move. Such a decline would once again shift attention to the $0.072 demand area.
While the rebound in price and increase in derivatives positioning have currently been supportive for the bulls, further buying interest will be crucial going forward.
Final Summary
- PYTH extends its recovery from the $0.072 demand zone after breaking above the $0.089 swing high.
- The network’s rising OI, Funding Rates, and long-position dominance suggest growing bullish exposure, but crowded leveraged positions could increase the risk of a pullback.
