Is CAP crypto’s 24% rally retail led? THIS positioning signal offers a clue

CAP’s derivatives market accelerated faster than its price. Could that leave the rally more sensitive to exits?

Cap [CAP], the credit-backed platform’s native token, rallied 24% over the past 24 hours, outperforming many top-200 cryptocurrencies.

Spot and perpetual market activity accompanied the gain, with bullish positioning suggesting potential for further upside. However, whether that momentum lasts could depend on buyers’ willingness to hold as leveraged exposure grows.

What do CAP’s Funding Rates suggest?

CAP crypto’s Funding Rate stood at 0.0208%, indicating that traders holding long positions were paying those holding shorts. The positive reading suggested bullish positioning in the perpetual market.

However, the Funding Rate alone could not establish whether traders were overexposed or whether further gains would follow.

Meanwhile, CAP crypto’s Open Interest rose 26% to $28.61 million at press time, showing an increase in outstanding derivatives exposure. Rising Open Interest alongside CAP’s price gain suggested stronger market participation.

Even so, Open Interest included both long and short positions. Its dollar value could also increase as CAP’s price rose.

Are retail traders driving CAP crypto’s rally?

CoinGlass reported that CAP’s perpetual Trading Volume climbed 151% to $75.9 million at press time. The Long/Short Ratio also pointed to a bullish tilt, reaching 1.65 over the past hour.

A reading above one indicated more long than short exposure within the tracked sample, rather than greater buying volume.

Interestingly, the Whale-Retail Delta fell to -0.066, suggesting that retail positioning was stronger relative to whale positioning. That supported the retail-led reading, although it could not establish who drove most of CAP’s Trading Volume.

The next test could come if those bullish traders unwind their positions, potentially adding pressure after the sharp advance.

Can more CAP holders support gains?

Beyond derivatives, CAP’s Holder Count reached 5,540, according to CoinMarketCap. The count had increased from approximately 5,130 since the start of October, adding roughly 410 holder addresses.

The increase suggested that CAP’s holder base had expanded alongside its price gains.

Still, more holder addresses could not establish the size of purchases or how long buyers intended to hold. Continued spot accumulation could strengthen CAP’s bullish case, particularly if holders retained their tokens through short-term volatility.
