STONK rallies as token holders grow, but will spot selling weigh on the price?

Positive Funding Rates and rising on-chain flows add to the factors that could push STONK’s price higher.

STONK rallies as token holders grow, but will spot selling weigh on the price?

Stonkfun.xyz [STONK], the native token of the token launch platform, saw high capital inflows recently, pushing its price up on the charts. The altcoin, which was up 15% over the last 36 hours, seemed to be moving in a stronger direction than its competitor, Pump.fun [PUMP], at press time.

Capital flows across on-chain and off-chain segments have contributed massively to the asset’s recent performance. While the outlook has been strongly optimistic, profit-taking in the spot market might remain a non-negligible factor in STONK’s short-term performance.

STONK sees hike in capital inflows

The surge in token holders has been one key factor behind the price rally. In fact, CoinMarketCap data revealed that there has been a surge in the number of holders acquiring STONK in the market, with 4,000 new holders added.

To put this into perspective, the holder count surged from 99,020 on 24th October to a new high of 103,080 at press time, marking the highest number of holders the asset has ever recorded.

A surge in holders often means investors have a positive outlook on the asset. In the near term, they seem to be anticipating that the asset will continue its rally.

Market sentiment analysis put this into perspective too, showing that there may be a greater chance of further gains. Especially as the general consensus in the market revealed that investors were bullish.

Sentiment had a reading of 4.46 on the chart at press time, a reading which is considered bullish. Sentiment uses a scale between -10 and 10, and a reading at this level confirmed that more traders have been holding the asset.

Long positions rise as bullish sentiment grows

Traders have been positioning themselves to capture STONK’s price swings, anticipating further gains in the short to near term.

In fact, Open Interest-weighted Funding Rate data from CoinGlass revealed that there was a hike in bullish positions in the early hours of 26th October, with the Funding Rate surging from 0.0046% to 0.0182% at press time.

A positive Funding Rate implies that there are more long positions relative to Open Interest in the asset’s perpetual market, which stood at $6.41 million.

On-chain capital flows also contributed to this performance, with DeFiLlama reporting that earnings on Stonkfun.xyz hit their second-highest monthly level yet at $6.26 million, behind September’s earnings of $28.65 million.

A sustained flow of capital into the on-chain market could significantly boost STONK’s performance in the near term as investors remain bullish.

An improvement in sentiment and momentum

A key threat to STONK’s performance remains its spot flow, however, which has been largely positive. Data from CoinGlass showed that investors have been selling into the rally. In the last 24 hours alone, Spot Netflows recorded approximately $316,000.

A positive Netflow indicates that there have been more sellers than buyers in the market, a trend that has persisted for at least a week now.

Sellers’ dominance at this scale could force the asset to underperform, limiting further upside even as momentum builds.

If bulls maintain this buying pressure, there will be a high chance that the asset will continue to rally in the near term.

Final Summary

  • STONK surged as its holder count rose by 4,000 and the Funding Rate climbed to 0.0139%.
  • Spot Netflow recorded figures of $314,000, suggesting that selling pressure could limit further gains despite bullish market sentiment.
