Lighter gains 16% as CFTC filing nears – But LIT still needs…
Lighter’s regulatory wait could outlast its rally. What keeps buyers interested once the filing is submitted?
Lighter [LIT] showed strong bullish pressure over the past three days. Since defending $2.5, the altcoin has continued to close higher.
It flipped the $3 resistance level and rose to a local high of $3.2. At writing, Lighter traded around $3.18, up 16% on the daily charts.
Over the same period, its Market Cap rose 17% to nearly $800 million, tracking the price recovery.
Why is Lighter rising ahead of November?
Lighter [LIT] found its footing three days ago amid renewed interest in Lighter’s U.S. licensing plans. Lighter said it would file with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) in November.
It planned to seek Designated Contract Market (DCM) and Derivatives Clearing Organization (DCO) licenses. Both approvals would be needed to operate its proposed fully regulated perpetual futures venue.
Lighter hoped to become the first on-chain perpetual futures decentralized exchange approved by U.S. regulators. The plans first made headlines on the 21st of October, when LIT jumped to $3.9.
With November now underway, those expectations appeared to regain traction. However, filing would only start the process, with review possibly stretching into summer 2027 and approval remaining uncertain.
What do Lighter whale withdrawals suggest?
Against that backdrop, a whale moved ahead of the breakout. According to Lookonchain, the whale withdrew 1.15M LIT worth $3.31 million.
The withdrawal was consistent with accumulation, although it did not establish how long the whale intended to hold. Broader exchange activity also leaned toward withdrawals.

CoinGlass data showed that Spot Netflow turned negative for the first time in four days. At press time, it stood near -$1.2 million, meaning exchange outflows exceeded inflows.
That could ease immediate selling pressure if withdrawn tokens stayed off exchanges. Whether buyers could sustain the rally remained the next test.
Can LIT hold $3 and rally further?
Lighter’s momentum indicators showed improvement, although buyers had yet to establish clear control. Its Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) formed a bullish crossover, with the MACD line rising to -0.19.
The crossover suggested fading bearish momentum. However, the line remained below zero, leaving the recovery short of a stronger bullish confirmation.

The Relative Strength Index (RSI) also climbed from 34 to 47 in two days. A sustained move above 50 could support the case for buyers taking control.
If buying persisted and $3 held, Lighter could attempt to reclaim $3.5 before targeting the previous reversal near $3.9.
Still, licensing expectations could lose their pull before a regulatory decision arrived. A failure to hold $3 could expose LIT to a retreat toward $2.7.
Final Summary
- Lighter gained 16% as November licensing plans returned to focus, although CFTC approval remained uncertain.
- Whale withdrawals and negative Spot Netflow supported the recovery, while RSI remained below 50.
