Bitcoin reclaims $80K – Why THESE signals threaten BTC’s price recovery

Bitcoin’s recovery faces a critical test as institutional selling and miner activity challenge renewed bullish momentum.

Bitcoin reclaims $80K - Why THESE signals threaten BTC's price recovery

Bitcoin [BTC] has reclaimed the $80,000 level, which is sitting above the 100-week Exponential Moving Average (EMA). This indicates a potential shift from short bearish control to bullish as long as BTC remains above the EMA.

The broader market is also green, with gains of about 2.38% on the day, with the total crypto capitalization approaching $2.70 trillion.

On the charts, Bitcoin is trading above a bull flag that had been in place since late September 2025. The EMA is also trading above the 0.50 Fibonacci retracement levels, a confirmation that BTC is entering the premium zone.

Still, buyers have yet to show real dominance over bears with the MACD faintly green.

Therefore, a breakdown to around $60,000 may be viable if bulls cannot keep the price above the EMA. The $60,000 level is aligned to 0.618 Fibonacci, a zone where most assets tend to bounce from.

Conversely, if bulls manage to sustain the strength, BTC could equal its all-time high of $126K, though $90,000 remains a significant supply zone. However, BTC is facing conflicting signals when on-chain data is explored.

Miner transfers and ETF outflows test buyer strength

Bitcoin miner, MARA Holdings, seems to be selling their Bitcoin holdings once again. The mining firm has moved 1,650 BTC worth over $132 million to Galaxy Digital, Copper, and other platforms.

Basically, Galaxy Digital received around 698 BTC valued at $56 million, while other platforms shared the remaining bounty from the Coinbase custody.

At the same time, U.S. Spot Bitcoin ETFs continued to see capital outflows over this week. For instance, in the past 24 hours, investors sold over $115 million in ETFs. This result took the weekly outflows to $990.98 million, less than $10 million away from hitting $1 billion.

This capital outflow from institutions puts bulls under a critical test of whether they can withstand this selling pressure.

The only way Bitcoin can hold its recovery above $80,000 is if buyers continue to long the token. At the same time, the selling pressure from the aforementioned institutions needs to stay in check, not outweighing the buyers’ volume.

Therefore, holding on to the new structure will be dependent on the behavior of market participants, including retailers, large investors, and institutions.

Final Summary

  • Bitcoin reclaimed the $80,000 level, flipping the 100-week EMA into support, an indication of a potential shift to a long-term bullish structure.
  • BTC was turning bullish on the weekly chart, but MARA’s dumping and Bitcoin ETF outflows tested its buyer strength.
