A Satoshi-era Bitcoin whale just bet $4B on Ethereum! Is this ETH’s best Q3 yet?

A Satoshi-era whale swapped nearly $4B in BTC for ETH, causing good momentum across the board.

Bitcoin Whale

Key Takeaways

A massive whale just swapped nearly $4 billion in Bitcoin for Ethereum. With big wallets piling in, Q3 2025 is shaping up to be interesting.

Imagine sitting on a fortune of Bitcoin [BTC] mined back when Satoshi was still around… and then deciding to swap nearly all of it for Ethereum [ETH].

That’s exactly what just happened.

A Satoshi-era whale moved tens of thousands of BTC into ETH, and the effects are already showing. With big wallets piling in and ETH momentum building, this could be Ethereum’s strongest Q3 ever.

A legendary Satoshi-era whale unloaded 35,991 BTC ($4.04B) in exchange for 886,371 ETH ($4.07B), and they’re not done yet.

Fresh transfers show more Bitcoin being offloaded into hot wallets, so there could be bigger Ethereum buys around the corner.

Wallets holding between 10K-100K ETH are aggressively stacking up too, with balances shooting to new highs. The confidence in Ethereum is hard to miss.

A record-breaking quarter

Keeping that in mind, Ethereum is now staring at what could be its best third quarter ever.

Historical data shows Q3 has been a mixed bag for ETH, with gains averaging just 9.55%. But 2025 is rewriting the script.

Ethereum is already up 87.66% this quarter, a far cry from past performances. Not even the Q3 runs of 2020 or 2021 come close.

ETH holds firm above $4.6K

At press time, Ethereum traded at $4,663, holding steady above the $4,600 mark. The RSI showed moderate bullish momentum.

The MACD line remained above the signal line, though the histogram showed signs of cooling strength.

Meanwhile, ETH stayed well above its 50, 100, and 200-day EMAs, confirming strong underlying support. Daily trading volume printed at 13.77K, so there’s steady activity despite recent consolidation.

Overall, ETH maintains higher ground after its breakout while leaving room for further upside… should buying pressure continue.
