Carbon-based fuel dependencies to be killed off by CO2 neutral methanol producing Silent Technology?

The world is constantly moving towards overusing fossil fuels and generally contributing to global warming. The widespread pervasive nature of machines utilizing fossil fuels has resulted in a general worsening of our living conditions as a species.
While there has been a continuous advancement in the field of renewable energy, a lot of alternatives that exist today are still subject to several problems that come with existing infrastructure such as centralized power grids.
This drove the bright minds at Silent Technology to think about how it would be possible to decentralize the power grid, with a brand-new technology that has never been seen before in execution.
Silent Technology installs CO2 neutral plants for methanol synthesis, along with technology for the modular creation of these plants. These plants produce high-quality methanol by utilizing water, carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and electricity from renewable resources.
This methanol is then sold through their globally registered M99 Methanol brand. It is used in a variety of use-cases, as fuel for producing electricity and can be stored like oil, leading to an easy method of allowing supply. When the fuel is utilized in burning, the only by-products of the process are water and CO2, thus making the fuel cycle CO2 neutral. Moreover, methanol can be used to make paints, plastics, detergents, sprays, plywood, and many more everyday products.
The Methanol Synthesis Plants [MSP] are the main source of revenue for Silent Technologies and will undergo a constant change for the betterment of the ecosystem. This will include research to advance knowledge in capturing the CO2 from the atmosphere, and the actual synthesizing process of the methanol.
Other than creating and maintaining MSPs, the engineering team for Silent develops new technologies for methanol production, profit from Intellectual Properties and Patents. This also opens up opportunities for future commercialization.
The company is currently researching new technologies for the decentralized synthesis of methanol such as smaller sized units that turn solar energy into methanol. This makes room for applications such as driving one’s car with energy generated from a solar panel.
From 2020 onwards, the company will tackle the development of small-scale carbon capture and methanol synthesis plants, thus allowing for a distributed network of MSPs co-located with Econimo units.
The sister company of Silent Technology, Silent Power is currently working on deploying a miniature power plant known as the Econimo Mini Power Plant. They are focused on bringing Econimo-Drive Power Plants to the market for easy integration with cars, which will drive the widespread use of cars using methanol. The Econimo-Drive is a converter module that makes methanol into electricity and heat by utilizing the thermophotovoltaic method.
The first Econimo is already out in the field and performing as expected. Mass production of the product is on the way, with more than 2500 Econimo units to be distributed over the next five years. These plants can also function as power grid stabilizers to compensate for irregularity in supply form.
Benefits of Silent Technology:
The widespread use of Silent Technology allows for the decentralization of large-scale power plants as the existence of a robust distributed network model. The network involves thousands of combined heat and power systems that provide electricity, and heat and cool water on site.
There are also no transmission losses as experienced by large centralized power plants, due to the close location of the Econimo to the user. The product is also very small, coming in at a size of 3.3×1.5 meters. It can be added anywhere the customer wants, as it does not emit smoke, dust or any micro-particles.
They are also very efficient, operating at over 80% efficiency, producing 30 kW of electrical power and 60 kW of heat. Econimos are a recognized solution to curb CO2 emissions in power production.
Owning and operating an Econimo makes citizens of certain European countries eligible for subsidies under producing eco-friendly power. Econimo also comes with a low cost of ownership, as its advanced remote monitoring system lets the company know when the fuel needs to be refueled.
Benefits of using methanol:
It is a versatile product, and a massive market, thus giving Silent Technology a lot of space to grow and expand upon existing infrastructure. It also binds and reuses CO2, a much-needed property with global warming being a looming threat.
It is also eco-friendly when used as a fuel, as it only releases water and CO2 on combustion. It is biodegradable, cheap, readily available and not made from food crops like other biofuels.
Use-cases for Silent Technology:
Oil-based engines in cars are outperformed by methanol based engines, thus meeting global needs for power without destroying the environment. Silent can also enable underserved demographics to gain power without faulty centralized power grids, and provide relief in areas struck by natural disasters. The decentralized production of methanol is a low cost and easily deployable solution.
Security Token [SLNT]:
Silent Technology is holding a sale of security tokens for an opportunity for investors to receive 87% of the company’s annual EBIT [Earnings Before Interest and Taxes] and 35% of the exit price in case the company is sold.
Even as the team has raised over 34 million Swiss Francs in capital through sizeable equity fundings, the need of the VC market for short-term returns is not met. This is due to the fact that even though the company has a solid business case, a long-term view is necessary for profits owing to the nature of the industry. This is why they have chosen to take the route of a tokenized investment to open up the company for capital.
AMBCrypto reached out to Silent Technology to clarify doubts about the project.
What drove you to create Silent Tech?
Silent.Technology completes the Silent ecosystem. Having already developed the demand side of the methanol economy we saw the need to create the supply side of renewable methanol. For this reason we created Silent.Technology in order to let everybody participate in this ecosystem.
Are you planning to team up with governments in order to deploy the technology in cities?
This is one of our core issues. Using technology that uses CO2 from waste incinerators implicitly involves the collaboration of the authorities. We are also confident that the local government will be very supportive to put this new technology in place.
Will the products be available for sale to consumers?
I think more products produced from CO2 neutral methanol will be accessible to the consumers. In the form of energy or even plastic products molded out from granulate made with our methanol. Bare methanol can be used for cooking too. We have tested cooking stoves that can use methanol.
Will the Silent token be used for any other purpose other than being a fundraising tool for the company?
This particular first token will be used only for the purpose of financing methanol synthesis plants. But we plan to introduce more coins for the exchange of our renewable methanol and the energy made out of it. We plan to use blockchain in our production process to register every production step so that the buyer of a methanol charge can verify in the blockchain that everything is CO2 neutral.
Considering the EU’s stance on green energy, what is your prediction for the next 5 years?
We think that the increase of CO2 taxation and the higher price of CO2 certificates will accelerate the change of mind in the industry. Today CO2 reduction goals are not commercially interesting for the industry yet, but once CO2 emission allowances will be a relevant share of the production cost, we will see fast changes.
Is it economically and environmentally viable option to use methanol as a universal fuel for every energy requirement?
Economically it should be even with the current situation, not cheaper and not more expensive. A simple equation is that the combustion value of the methanol is half of that of diesel. But methanol costs half the price of diesel. So there should at least not be negative economic aspects.
From the environmental side, the use of CO2 neutral methanol makes sense everywhere where fluid fuels are used and/or the use of batteries is not practical. The refilling of a tank with methanol takes a couple of minutes while charging a battery takes at least half an hour [with high power chargers, which are not available everywhere].
