Following the test net launch of KEVM and Cardano 1.2 release, the team announced earlier today their latest release as promised, the paper wallets. The release of Daedalus 0.10.0 and Cardano 1.2.0 will be delivered through the auto-update systems.

Cardano announced:

“Paper wallets launched for Cardano: Announcing Daedalus 0.10.0 and Cardano 1.2.0 release, read more details on the Cardano forum here.”

Users who own Daedalus will be notified about the new features which include paper wallets that allow users to store their funds securely offline. A 27-word recovery phrase is added to the wallet inclusive of automatic printing on the certificate for the first 18 words and the remaining 9 words hand-written by the users. With the Daedalus wallet update, paper wallets can also be revived and brought back online.

Hectorc05, a Cardano enthusiast commented:

“Superb! thanks for the hard work you girls and boys are the best out there! we love you!”

Daedalus Updates:

New support page in settings with links is available to access the FAQ which contains the solutions to known issues, access to a form for sending support requests and a link for downloading logs.

Cardano 1.2.0:

A new and improved version of the wallet API is now available for cryptocurrency exchanges and other parties which makes the previous V0 version obsolete. Users with the old API are advised to switch to the new version and the documentation for both are available. The endpoint is used to improve the backend performance especially for retrieving wallets.

Is paper wallet the most secure to store ADA? Is it better than storing in Daedalus? What is the difference?

A developer, Vantuz explains: The main difference from having it stored in Daedalus is that the paper-wallets are “cold” which means the secret keys are not stored on a computer. The paper wallet is a bit more official and secure. When you “keep your ADA in Daedalus” (meaning – you have your wallet restored and available in Daedalus), then your secret keys to this wallet are stored on the computer. If you have a spending password – then your keys are encrypted, but still stored on the computer. The safer those passwords are – the harder it will be for hackers to get access to actual keys.

Ethereum Classic tweeted addressing IOHK, Cardano, and its team:

“Congrats on passing this milestone!”
