Cardano’s $0.19 defense: Who’s buying ADA and why it matters

Whales are back at the September support but will stop ADA from dropping lower?

Cardano's $0.19 defense: Who's buying ADA and why it matters

Intersect, a Cardano ecosystem governance entity, has recommended that stake pool operators (SPOs) upgrade their systems to patch a critical Linux flaw.

The vulnerability, tracked as CVE-2026-98432, could allow an attacker to inject and execute a remote malicious code remotely. According to Red Hat’s security brief, the flaw has a CVSS severity score of 9.8 and system-wide scope across major Linux systems, including Ubuntu, which powers Cardano.

The flaw is within the Linux kernel subsystem that handles internet connections ( IPv4 TCP connections). It can allow an attacker to exploit a node (block producer) or relay, effectively leading to node crashes or data corruption.

So far, some Linux systems have been fixed with relevant patches. Fixes for Ubuntu are currently being expedited, and Intersect wants SPOs to upgrade swiftly when the patched releases are out.

If you run a stake pool, check which kernel your block producer and relays use, and apply the fixed kernel and reboot as soon as your distribution publishes it.

Intersect oversees the Cardano codebase and treasury operations. Other top entities like the Cardano Foundation and EMURGO handle the nonprofit and commercial arms, respectively.

The SPOs are equivalent to validators on Solana or Ethereum, as they process block transactions. Each SPO runs the Cardano node’s system and is recommended to update their system accordingly.

The bug was initially flagged by Anthropic and affected several systems globally, underscoring the security risks and benefits of AI models.

Impact on Cardano sentiment and price

That said, ADA’s sentiment has dropped to August fear lows. The August fear turned out to be a great buy signal as ADA rallied 62% from $0.17 to $0.28. It’s unclear whether the current fear signal will also be a buying opportunity.

However, it appeared some whales deemed it a great buying opportunity as well. According to CryptoQuant’s data, whale activity has spiked near the $0.19 price zone.

A similar pattern was seen when ADA price dipped to this area in mid-September and stopped the pullback.

If the whale activity and near-term pattern repeat, buyers may defend the $0.19. In fact, the level has acted as support since late August. The immediate bullish target would be $0.22 if a rebound happens at this level, presenting a 15% upside potential.

But if Bitcoin records more losses, ADA sellers may attempt to crack the $0.19 support.

Final Summary

  • Cardano operators have been urged to upgrade their systems to fix a Linux flaw that could crash nodes.
  • Whale activity has spiked near the short-term support zone of $0.19.
