ADA technical analysis: Signs point to continued declines

ADA faced significant challenges over the past year, with major ups and downs. Cardano's price prediction for 2024 began in June as the broader market crashed, leading to it dropping to the lowest support level of $0.24.
 

The bulls tried to rally mid-month, elevating the asset to test $0.32 in mid-July. Nonetheless, the rally lacked sufficient momentum to last. By mid-August, the altcoin returned to its lowest floor. Finally, the Q4 2023 bull run was the push ADA needed to flip $0.32 in November. 

Continuing the uptrend, December witnessed a major price pump, with ADA rising to $0.62. After repeated tests over a month, the asset was rejected in January. This rejection was the aftermath of an overvalued market.
 

This setback put substantial pressure on bulls’ efforts to stabilize over $0.50. The price fluctuated around it until early February. Notably, ADA experienced sustained buying pressure throughout February, pushing its price to retest $0.62 and reclaim it as the month ended. 

Concurrently, ADA established a new resistance level at $0.75. The price was yet again rejected from this level in March. Moreover, the downtick was amplified due to the bearish crash in April, pushing ADA decisively below $0.50. 

Following this, like many other cryptocurrencies, the price remained range-bound while holding steady at the $0.41 support. At the time of writing, the asset traded at $0.42. AMBCrypto’s recent analysis revealed large ADA holders have been selling some of their tokens. 

The group holding between 100 million and 1 billion tokens has followed this trend since June 1. When large addresses sell, holders lose confidence in the token. Moreover, the Cumulative Liquidation Levels Delta (CLLD) indicated that the token could be at risk of another decline. 
 

Another report supported this outlook, which uncovered that 402,720 addresses accumulated 6.39 billion ADA tokens when the price was between $0.44 and $0.49. As a result, there is a high likelihood that many holders may choose to sell once ADA reaches these levels again.

The key support at $0.41 appeared on the bears’ radar, with the price inching closer. If the selling pressure increases, ADA might move closer to $0.32. While a break below this level can even see it return to the lowest support.
 

Meanwhile, if the bulls stabilize over $0.50, the trend can likely tilt in their favor. After that, flipping the chart resistances would be a prioritized goal. Overcoming these levels would be necessary to reach the critical $1 mark. If the upward momentum persists, the $1 and $1.2 levels emerge as the subsequent high-time-frame (HTF) resistances to watch.

Continued optimism within the Cardano community and the broader market could be crucial for ADA's potential to reach new highs. Our models project that ADA could trade at an average price of over $15 in 2028, expected to rise to $130 in 2031.  

ADA's 2024 roadmap: Key indicators to watch and trade

• The trading volume closely followed price movements, with notable spikes during price rallies and declines during price drops. The downtick from Q2 2024 indicated a lack of investor confidence. 
• The Relative Strength Index (RSI) stayed below 50 until late October. Subsequently, it climbed, reaching the overbought zone in December. After a brief dip in January, the RSI moved over 70 in mid and late February, only to fall below it again in March and continue declining. It returned to register bearish values in April. By the end of the analysis, the indicator stood at 41.92.
• The Chaikin Money Flow (CMF) initially dipped below the zero line in mid-June but quickly climbed back up. However, by late July, the indicator decisively turned negative. As the price recovered in late October, the CMF returned to positive values. 
• Despite this, the recent downturn pushed it back below zero by April. After a slight recovery in late May, the indicator was at -0.01 by the end of the analysis. This suggested a marginally negative sentiment, indicating slight net selling pressure.
