LTC technical analysis: Investors brace for more declines ahead

While Bitcoin (BTC)—the digital gold has continued to capture a significant market share, the digital silver has not been left behind. LTC has experienced quite some spikes and dips. Yet, the question remains of what its future trajectory will look like. The Litecoin price prediction for 2024 aims to delve deeper into this.

The analyzed period began with the asset shedding substantial gains as a major red candle appeared on the charts. The preceding hype triggered by the anticipation of the halving event waned as it retraced its steps below the peak resistance at $105.

Despite analyst predictions of a significant bull market triggered by the reduction in block reward, LTC’s price action unfolded contrary, with the price dropping to its lowest support level observed during the analysis period at $61 in mid-August. 
 

The broader market rally in October saw bulls turn $69 to support. Nonetheless, $79 was a significant point of rejection, causing the price to dip below the former level numerous times in early 2024. The market dynamics shifted in late February, with a significant price pump, flipping $79 and $85 bullishly.

Although the following test of the $105 level faced pushback, late March saw the price retest the high yearly resistance, which resulted in a rejection. This depreciation was amplified in April as the price fell below $85 again. Notably, the bulls managed to hold on to the $79 base, with the price consolidating between these levels until mid-June.
 

AMBCrypto’s report on the rising Puell Multiple did not favor the odds of the bulls reclaiming the upper limit of this range. In fact, the analysis suggested that LTC could trade under $80, and any potential rally would likely be short-lived.

Concurrently, a bearish breakdown returned the asset to $69 by late June. AMBCrypto highlighted that despite failing to generate profits for investors, LTC still outperformed BTC and Ethereum (ETH) in terms of genuine active addresses. Furthermore, most market indicators on the daily chart favored sellers. At press time, LTC exchanged hands at $70.

A noticeable increase in the coin's Network Value to Transactions (NVT) ratio and substantial coins worth $70 million lined on the ask side hinted that LTC's situation could deteriorate in the near future. In addition, Hyblock Capital’s data indicated that if the downtrend persists, LTC's price could drop to $67 soon. Meanwhile, the next downside target could be $61 and $51.
 

However, should a trend reversal occur, LTC could set an initial target of $81 to start a robust recovery. AMBCrypto also took a closer look at Litecoin’s price movements to uncover that LTC historically follows a clear pattern during each cycle. The price tends to remain stable around the halving events until approximately four to five months after Bitcoin's halving, after which it usually experiences a significant increase. 

Based on this pattern, LTC's price is expected to rise towards the end of Q3 2024, around August or September. If LTC replicates BTC’s success, the coin can likely reclaim its all-time high (ATH) in 2024. Yet, a level around $380 might trigger a pushback. 
 

LTC’s three-year trajectory looks promising. According to forecasts from our analytical models, the token is anticipated to achieve an average price exceeding $1,300 by 2027. Looking ahead, this upward trend is projected to continue, with expectations for the price to surpass $11,000 by 2030.

LTC's 2024 roadmap: Key indicators to watch and trade

• LTC's trading volume remained low during the initial downtrend. Meanwhile, it surged substantially during the February bull run. However, a notable reduction became evident from Q2 2024, signaling investor withdrawal. 
• The Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) dropped below the signal line in late July. By mid-August, it plunged below the zero line, and the signal line followed suit by the next month. This descent continued until October, after which the indicator reversed its course. 
• By November, the MACD line regained its position over the signal line. The late February rally pushed the former into positive territory, with the latter moving across zero by mid-March. 
• The MACD line began dropping in April, forming a bearish crossover in May. As the analysis ended, it turned negative to register at -0.65, with the signal line and histogram at 1.24 and -1.88, respectively. These values highlighted the strengthening selling bias.
• In August, the 20 and 50 Exponential Moving Averages (EMAs) transitioned to resistance levels while creating a death cross mid-month. Between November and mid-Februray, the price often slightly exceeded the 20 EMA and even reached the 50 EMA on occasion. 
• The significant surge later in the month reestablished the candles’ dominance, leading to a golden cross in late March. However, as the price consolidated, it frequently dipped below the 20 EMA. 
• By mid-June, the price had retraced its steps below both the EMAs, which seemed to converge again, possibly indicating the formation of another death cross. This validated the likelihood of further declines.
