ERGO: Profitable mining with outdated video cards

ERGO is a relatively new cryptocurrency considered by many a highly profitable one in terms of mining. Contrary to ETH algorithms, ERGO has much lower demands for hardware. For example, efficient ERGO mining can be conducted even by cards with less than 2Gb. ETH mining requires at least 2Gb. 

If you are an owner of an older video card with less than 4Gb, you should most certainly take a closer look at ERGO. It is especially important for miners with AMD Radeon HD 7970, R9 280X, R9 380X, Fury, R9 290X cards that cannot be used to mine ETH. These GPUs are quite powerful in their own right and show excellent results when used to mine ERG. 

Modern miners may not even support some of the older models of video cards (Fiji, Baffin, Hawaii, Tonga) since Polaris core AMD cards that are older than RX480 are outdated for ETH mining. 

To start mining ERGO using older models of AMD cards, you can use SRBMiner Multi. Other miners that support ERGO are Teamredminer and Nanominer but hash rates of AMD cards will be noticeably lower. Modern video cards show practically the same results when used with different miners.

The main takeaway: ERGO cryptocurrency mining is best performed using older video cards by AMD and Nvidia that cannot be used to mine Ethereum. For example, a very popular R9 280X video card can produce $24 per month ($0.8 per day) in ERGO which is quite profitable compared to other cryptocurrencies while Radeon R9 290X which is the next generation of the series can reach 55Mh/s which is on par with modern video cards. 

ERGO mining should interest owners of weaker equipment like RX 550, RX 560 or GTX 1050Ti since these cards have less than 4Gb and a relatively slow GPU meaning that they lose in comparison to other cards when using MTP algorithm (and similar). However, these cards can show good results when Autolykos 2 algorithm is used.
