It has come to light that the entrepreneur of security software turned crypto-influencer, John McAfee is indulging in tokenizing rare-art. The news emerged when McAfee tweeted regarding his latest interests. Here, he stated that tokenizing objects could be a groundbreaking use-case for blockchain technology.
Setting the case in point, he conveyed that he will be involved in a tokenized auction of Picasso by the end of December. In the original tweet posted on 15th November, he wrote:
“I am helping to tokenize rare art objects – a groundbreaking Blockchain application. We will auction a tokenized Picasso at the end of December. This is our second tokenized painting. The first was a resounding success. “
This is not the first time that the Founder of McAfee Associates has placed his finger on a project related to cryptocurrencies and blockchain. He has been involved in several speculations regarding the crypto-market and promoting several tokens, including Docademic [MTC].
The businessman also took a keen interest earlier this year in exposing the wrongdoings and unethical business practicals of the cryptocurrency exchange, HitBTC. The two parties engaged in a hostile online battle, where harsh remarks and allegations were made.
At the Malta Summit held recently, in the first week of November, McAfee paid an appearance. Here, he made a bold statement about Bitcoin, predicting that the coin will reach a million dollar value by the year 2020.
Maecenas, which is a platform that facilitates participation in blockchain-based auctions of fine art, in its blog, mentioned an Ethereum-backed exchange as one of its collaborations and stated:
“Blockchain-based art investment platform Maecenas has teamed up with crypto exchange Ethershift.co and computer security expert John McAfee to conduct the first “perpetual” digitalization and tokenization of a Picasso work of fine art.”
crypto-vert, a Twitter user and a blockchain space enthusiast, on the news of McAfee tokenizing art, commented:
“Do you find it’s difficult to convert your ICO raised crypto into fiat ?? Why not go with #cashaa it’s only one in market that will provide you IBAN account including crypto #cashaa #fin tech #banking”
