XRP technical analysis: Price slump continues as market crashes

Over the past year, XRP experienced significant fluctuations. The Ripple price prediction for 2024 presents a cautious outlook. The price began its journey by encountering significant selling pressure.
 

XRP fell below $0.50 in mid-April, reinforcing it as a resistance. After finding a temporary footing at the low support of $0.42 in May, the bulls rallied again and overcame this level by the end of the month. Yet, this success was short-lived, as the price experienced a pullback in mid-June.
 

This pattern was finally broken in mid-July as the bulls tried to elevate the price from $0.45. A notable surge led XRP to trade as high as $0.93. Simultaneously, $0.74 was established as the new high resistance. This came after Ripple partially won against the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). 
 

However, the market experienced another setback, resulting in the price dipping below $0.60 in mid-August. While the bulls did their best to hold on to the $0.50 support, growing selling sentiment caused temporary dips below this level in September and October.
 

In mid-October, the buyers regrouped. Despite briefly touching peak resistance in mid-November, momentum waned. Until January 2024, efforts were made to keep the price above the $0.60 support level, but persistent bearish pressure led to a breach of this threshold. 
 

This caused XRP to land back on $0.50. As the calendar turned to February, renewed optimism filled the market as the price continued its northbound journey. Yet, a similar pattern followed. A significant drop led XRP to drop below $0.50 in April and graze the low support.
 

AMBCrypto reported that XRP did not manage to challenge a symmetrical triangle pattern that has been forming over the past six years as its price fell below $0.5. Hence, its value may decline further in the near future.

Data from Santiment also revealed several negative indicators. The asset's Market Value to Realized Value (MVRV) ratio experienced a significant drop last week. Subsequently, the Network Value to Transactions (NVT) ratio showed signs of increase, suggesting that XRP might be overpriced. The loss in daily on-chain transaction volume also increased.

At the time of writing, the altcoin traded at $0.4996. If the bulls manage to reclaim the $0.50 level, there can be a bounce back. Another rally could propel XRP to target $0.87 next. With a sustained uptrend, $1 can also be on the cards in 2024. Nonetheless, this critical mark might lead to a tussle, and if rejected, more declines can follow.
 

In contrast, should the $0.45 support level break, XRP could potentially fall back to $0.42. In the worst-case scenario, a retreat back to $0.3 might also materialize.

• The trading volume started out moderate. Given the repeated pullbacks, volume also dropped, with slight recoveries noted during bull runs.
• Notably, the late-February rally was accompanied by a substantial increase in volume. This signified increased investor confidence. Yet, as the price dipped, the volume did as well. 
• The Awesome Oscillator (AO) remained predominantly positive, with a brief dip below zero in October. A more pronounced drop was observed between ending January and March.
• The negative values started decreasing towards the end of February, culminating in the AO climbing above zero again. In April, the indicator started losing momentum, registering at 0.0055.  This pointed to waning bullish strength.
• The Chaikin Money Flow (CMF) started out negative and recovered to positive levels by May, remaining above it until the end of July.
• This was followed by two more surges above zero in December and finally between mid-February and mid-March. The indicator ended the period at -0.04, a subtle indicator of a bearish bias.
