Japan: All about Eole’s HYPE purchase, 100 million yen allocation plans

What's the secret sauce that is stirring $HYPE's institutional attention?

Japan: All about Eole's HYPE purchase, 100 million yen allocation plans

Japanese technology company Eole Co. Ltd. is in the news today after it declared that it has purchased Hyperliquid’s native token, HYPE.

According to a report, this may be the first time HYPE has been added to the corporate treasury of a publicly-traded Japanese company.

The acquisition, according to the company, is a component of a longer-term plan to create a financial infrastructure dubbed a “Neo Crypto Bank.” That said, the latter is being prepared for the new era of self-governing AI agents.

Details of the purchase

With an average price of 9,352.776 yen per token, Eole paid approximately 10.08 million yen for 1,078.25 HYPE on 28 July as part of the initiative.

Depending on market conditions and liquidity, the company intends to make additional purchases by the end of August 2026 to raise its HYPE allocation to 100 million yen.

Eole claimed that instead of just keeping its HYPE holdings on its balance sheet, it intends to actively use them.

The business also noted a growing worldwide trend, especially in the United States, where institutional investors are indirectly investing in cryptocurrencies through publicly traded Digital Asset Treasury (DAT).

What’s behind this purchase?

The reason behind this purchase is simple. Eole predicts that payments, contracts, and financial transactions will be handled more and increasingly by autonomous AI agents.

Hence, to support this, Eole selected Hyperliquid for its high-speed and finance-focused Layer-1 blockchain technology.

That said, the network is ideal for AI-driven financial applications and decentralized finance. This, because it can process thousands of transactions per second with a latency of less than 100 milliseconds while still being compatible with Ethereum thanks to HyperEVM.

Are HYPE’s market dynamics in favor?

As HYPE was trading at $53.15 at press time following a 3.18% decline over the previous day, concerns remain.

Nonetheless, if looked at from a broader lens since the introduction of its Spot HYPE ETF in May 2026, the price of HYPE has increased from $38 to $54. Simply put, ETFs have contributed significantly to the altcoin’s price hike.

Meanwhile, a recent analysis also noted that HYPE ETF flows have been increasing on a market capitalization basis, in contrast to ETFs for Bitcoin [BTC], Ethereum [ETH], and other altcoins.

Final Summary

  • Hyperliquid’s HYPE is gaining traction in Japan after Eole purchased 1,078.25 HYPE.
  • Hike in popularity might be due to the surge in long-term price action and HYPE ETF strength against Bitcoin, other altcoin ETFs.
