AAVE technical analysis: Token nears yearly highs

While artificial intelligence (AI) tokens and memecoins have led this year, decentralized finance (DeFi) tokens have not been left behind. The Aave price prediction for 2024 sheds light on its past trajectory while paving the way for future potential.

At the outset, the token recovered to reclaim the lowest support at $61 by late September. Furthermore, the bullish rally in Q4 2023 boosted this initial optimism. 

While the token briefly struggled at $97 in early November, sustainable buying pressure turned it into support later in the month. Following this, the price repeatedly tested the $112 level between mid-December and mid-January.

Yet, the bulls’ attempts failed, with the asset retracting below the former support. The sector-wide recovery in February painted the chart green. Besides the broader optimism, AMBCrypto reported a significant surge in network activity and revenue growth.

Thus, the price reached the highest yearly resistance of $137 in March. Nevertheless, as the entire market succumbed to selling pressure, so did AAVE. A substantial drop caused the price to fall to a low of $77 in early April.

Interestingly, on May 1, Aave Labs announced plans to launch Aave V4 by 2030. This new iteration will feature a unified cross-chain liquidity layer (CCLL) to consolidate liquidity from multiple networks into a single protocol. Additionally, the development and adoption of Real World Assets (RWAs) represent another significant advancement in this upcoming version.

Building on this hype, a substantial pump later in May allowed the bulls to retest $112. However, consecutive red candles erased these gains, as AAVE returned to $77 by mid-June. This was succeeded by another recovery attempt focused on flipping $97 back in bullish favor.
 

Furthermore, the introduction of the GHO stablecoin on the Arbitrum (ARB) blockchain on July 2 bolstered these attempts. Since this level was previously weakened, the bulls reclaimed it by the second week of July. 

Even as the broader market struggled, AAVE pumped to retest $112 by the end of the month.  Nonetheless, in early August, the price briefly fell below $97. This was succeeded by a renewed rally that pushed the token to retest the former level mid-month.

Subsequently, it surged past it to challenge the yearly high, making it one of the top performers. Furthermore, Open Interest (OI) and wallet activity increased. The DeFi token traded at $134 at the time of writing.

How high/low can AAVE go in 2024?

A recent analysis by AMBCrypto highlighted that AAVE showed potential for further growth after breaking out of an 800-day accumulation range on the weekly chart. This outlook was bolstered by significant growth in lending and stablecoin operations over the past year, suggesting a possible price surge in the near future.

Another report supported this outlook, envisioning substantial gains for the token, but only if it stabilizes above the critical $150 mark. Meanwhile, Aave V4’s continuous development and the decentralized autonomous organization's (DAO) plans to deploy the stablecoin across various networks can likely impact the price’s prospects, sparking long-term optimism.

Considering the bearish scenarios, the price can find support at $112 if sell-offs ensue. If increased selling pressure causes this level to fail, AAVE can drop to $97. Notably, a break below this mark will effectively mark a significant valuation loss as the price returns to $77.

AAVE's 2024 roadmap: Key indicators to watch and trade

• The trading volume demonstrated a consistent relationship with the price. Increased volumes acted as a validation of the price rallies, highlighting investor interest. 
• The On-Balance Volume (OBV) ascended sharply from October. Between November and January, the indicator stabilized before climbing until mid-March. 
• After that, the OBV reversed its trajectory. It ended the analysis at 44.337 million. This uptick from previous lows signaled an increase in buying pressure.
• The Awesome Oscillator (AO) climbed over the zero line in late October, only to drop again in May. The decrease in negative values from mid-July culminated in the indicator turning positive by mid-August. At press time, the AO stood at 14.59, indicating bullish dominance.
