AVAX technical analysis: Bulls set course to reclaim the ATH

The Avalanche price prediction for 2024 revealed a tumultuous journey with significant price movements over the past year. The analysis period began with AVAX struggling to surpass the $20 mark, facing a retraction as it approached this level in mid-April.

Continuous declines pushed the price down to its lowest support level of $8 in mid-September. However, in mid-October, a bullish rally emerged. This bull run was observed across many altcoins during this period. The rally was significant enough to propel the price above the $20 mark in mid-November.

December brought about a major price surge, establishing $32 as a new support level. The uptrend propelled AVAX to test $49 by mid-month. Nevertheless, this peak was short-lived, as the market quickly deemed the asset overbought. This eventually led to a correction. 
 

The inability of buyers to sustain high buying levels resulted in a price decline below $40. As January progressed, bulls halted further declines at $32 to prevent a trend reversal. In the month’s latter half, the buyers exerted pressure to elevate the price again.

The buying momentum continued, and another pump in March allowed the price to move past this level and even turned $49 into support. At the time of writing, AVAX exchanged hands at $54.15. This value was indicative of the market’s overextension after the price was rejected from a recent high of $61.

Now, the market presents a dichotomy of possibilities. Significant buyer interest might be the push AVAX needs to overcome the current resistance. If this happens, the asset can go as high as $70 in the coming weeks. 
 

An even more optimistic outlook, backed by a prolonged bull run, suggests the next targets would be $80 and $100. Yet, these price points may also present significant resistance, possibly leading to a pullback. If the bulls manage to avoid that, the all-time high (ATH) is also within the realm of possibility.

Conversely, a market turnaround with a break below the current support could precipitate a fall back to the $40 level. This level might prove its resilience, preventing further declines to $32 in a probable bearish turnaround.

• The Chaikin Money Flow (CMF) dropped into negative territory briefly in June. A more pronounced drop followed at the end of July, signaling selling pressure for almost three months.
• It moved past the zero line again by the end of October. In mid-December, it even went as high as 0.42 before dropping and registering at 0.25 at the time of writing. The asset was still experiencing net inflows of money, but the momentum might be slowing down.
• The Directional Movement Index (DMI) offered detailed insights into market direction and strength. At the start of the analysis, the Average Directional Index (ADX) showed a downtrend, mainly staying below both the Positive Directional Indicator (+DI) and the Negative Directional Indicator (-DI) till the latter half of 2023.
• The +DI line demonstrated superiority over the -DI line initially from March to May, with a slight increase in July. In mid-October, the +DI line experienced a significant surge, clearly outpacing the -DI line, which saw a decline. 
• In November, the bullish market trend strengthened as the ADX line moved above the -DI line. The +DI peaked at 53.7 in December, followed by a drop below the ADX line in January.
