BCH technical analysis: Investors navigate market uncertainty

An analysis of BCH’s performance over the past year reveals significant volatility and a series of market cycles crucial for understanding the Bitcoin Cash price prediction for 2024. The initial month was marked by an accumulation of buying pressure, which allowed buyers to reclaim $215 as the lowest support by the end of September. 

Thus, a consolidation phase began, which saw the asset trading between $261 and $215. After over four months, BCH experienced a bullish breakout in February, flipping the former to support. By the end of the month, a significant surge allowed it to test $500. After a slight retraction below $423, the uptrend resumed. 

Another pump towards the end of March pushed BCH to reach the highest yearly resistance at $692. The second halving in early April propelled it to highs over $700, which had not been touched since 2021. 

However, sell-offs hit the asset hard as it faced a downturn the week following the halving event. The price faced rejection at the peak resistance as the market displayed overextended conditions.

Predominant red candles returned the coin to $423 in late April. Subsequent attempts to challenge $500 faltered. Moreover, the broader market downtrend compromised the asset’s standing at the former and turned to resistance in mid-June. By July, BCH found support at $304.

This renewed selling pressure resulted from Mt. Gox’s repayments, which impacted Bitcoin (BTC) and BCH. However, the latter was anticipated to take a larger hit. As AMBCrypto noted, its low liquidity further exacerbated this situation.

Nonetheless, as many coins posted gains in mid-July, BCH wasn’t left behind. The resurgence of buying pressure allowed it to retest $423. However, this rally was cut short as AMBCrypto reported that Kraken began distributing BTC and BCH to Mt. Gox’s creditors at the end of the month.
 

By August, BCH had fallen back to $304. While the broader market recovery led to a price increase mid-month, the subsequent downturn reversed these gains in September.

• The decline turned the MACD and signal line negative in early August and September. At the time of analysis, the MACD line stood at -16.8, the signal line at -2.6, and the histogram at -14.2, indicating a strengthening downtrend.
