Robinhood adds $25M in Bitcoin to balance sheet, calls it ‘asset diversification’

Will Robinhood's Bitcoin treasury plan mirror its recent successful crypto bets?

Robinhood adds $25M in Bitcoin to balance sheet, calls it 'asset diversification’

Fintech and blockchain giant Robinhood has joined the Strategy-led Bitcoin treasury trend. On Wednesday, the firm added $25M in Bitcoin to its balance sheet, marking the first time it has bought a separate stash from users’ funds.

Speaking on the firm’s reasoning behind the move, Johann Kerbrat, SVP and GM at Robinhood, said,

We believe firmly in the future of crypto and view this as a strategic move for our overall asset diversification.

This makes Robinhood the 199th public company to embrace Bitcoin for corporate treasury diversification. Currently, this group, led by Strategy, holds 1.279M of BTC, worth about $105B at current market value.

This is slightly below the 1.499M BTC stash held by ETF and other investment funds (purple). It remains to be seen whether Robinhood will go aggressive on Bitcoin [BTC] as Strategy or adopt a more moderate acquisition approach.

That said, the firm’s exec noted that they “believe in the future of crypto,” and recent integrations and expansions also reiterate this belief.

Robinhood Chain crosses $1B in TVL and $32M in monthly revenue

Some of Robinhood’s crypto bets are already paying out. It rolled out prediction markets in late 2024 and scaled them in 2025 and 2026 to cover politics, sports, and earnings report outcomes. This segment alone generated $260M in revenue for Robinhood in Q1 and Q2 2026.

The fintech has also doubled down on tokenized securities (stock tokens) and perpetual Futures (perps) across commodities, ETFs, and foreign exchanges.

In July 2026, it upped the crypto bets and debuted its Ethereum L2, Robinhood Chain. In just three months, the L2 has crossed $1B in TVL (total value locked), and the chain revenue hit a monthly record of $32.3M in September.

Surprisingly, Robinhood Chain seems to be succeeding in a crowded L2 ecosystem that has seen other players like Blast and Pudgy Penguins-backed Abstract exit.

Simply put, fintech’s crypto bets are increasingly becoming competitive and crucial revenue streams. It’s not clear whether these positive developments will boost HOOD, the firm’s stock.

Even so, Wall Street analysts’ consensus is positive, with a bullish target of $133 for the stock. In particular, Barclays and Bank of America projected that the stock could surge to $132 and $156, respectively, implying a 22.5% and 38% upside potential. It’s currently trading at $109.5.
