Search interest surges for Bitcoin, altcoins - Even as the crypto market bleeds

Google Search data shows a significant surge in interest around cryptocurrency.

The Google Trend analysis by Alphractal noted searches for cryptocurrencies have risen over the past day, with interest concentrated specifically in Bitcoin [BTC], Ethereum [ETH], and Solana [SOL].

The surge arrives at an unusual moment, with the market sitting well below the euphoria phase on the chart, and the report suggested this may signal a broader recovery ahead.

“Retail attention may be starting to return ahead of a broader market recovery.”

The data points to renewed curiosity, interest, and speculation returning to the space, a shift that may favor a move to the upside. Especially now, as the total market has shed roughly 3.2% of its capitalization, or $62.98 billion, at the time of writing.

Crypto market sentiment holds neutral

Despite the strong outflow of capital over the past couple of days, interest in these assets’ performance remains firm.

The altcoin season index held stable through the market instability, moving little regardless of shifting sentiment.

It sat at roughly 52 on the chart at the time of writing, implying near-neutral conditions with no bearish dominance—the outcome usually expected when the broader altcoin market trends downward.

The altcoin sentiment value tells a similar story through a different lens. The metric, which aggregates voting-based sentiment across different tokens, held at 1.42 over the past day and placed the market in a neutral phase at the time of writing.

That gauge runs on a scale from -10 to 10, with zero marking neutrality – a positive reading signals a bullish outlook, and the farther it climbs, the more bullish the market, and vice versa.

A neutral reading during a period of outflow shows investors staying on the sidelines and holding off on decisive moves. Yet sentiment holding near positive while prices fall hints at a possible recovery in the near term.

Where the capital lies

This is not the moment to go long, since positioning shows traders betting on the upside are on the losing side.

Total crypto liquidations over the past 24 hours amounted to roughly $273.66 million, with long losses accounting for around $187 million against the $86.66 million lost by short traders over the same period.

The gap shows shorts still hold the advantage, and losses could keep building across the market as the outlook stays under pressure. For now, the market looks likely to remain in a cautious stance.

Final Summary

  • Search interest in Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana is climbing while the broader market trades well below its euphoria phase.
  • Data shows $186 million in buyers’ positions have been liquidated.
