Recently, the Tron Foundation announced the release of TronWeb, a front-end javascript API [Application Programming Interface] that will connect users’ projects to Tron’s blockchain.

The Foundation said on Twitter:

“Today we are releasing TRONWEB, a front-end javascript API that connects your project to the #TRON blockchain, equivalient to Etheurem Web3.js”

The Tron Foundation further added:

“A big thank you to our engineers at TRON! More developer tools will be coming out soon.”

According to the Foundation, TronWeb is the equivalent of the Ethereum Javascript API known as Web3.js. The Web3.js is an assembly of libraries that permits users to network with a local or remote Ethereum node using an HTTP or IPC [Inter-process communication] connection. The Javascript API implements the Generic JSON RSC spec.

Along with the TronWeb announcement, the Foundation has also confirmed that they will announce the release of another tool called the TronBox soon. Both TronWeb and TronBox will allow developers to create dApps effectively assisting in Tron’s expansion and growth.

The Tron Foundation said that through Tron Web, the platform aims to provide a consolidated, smooth and consistent development experience, that is a direct influence of Ethereum’s web3 implementation.

Furthermore, Tron’s development team has expanded on Web3’s core so that they could crack the functionality that makes up Tron’s essential features. The team has also worked on developing new tools that allow the integration of dApps into browsers, Node.js and IoT devices.

In terms of compatibility, TronWeb is built for version 6 of the Node.js runtime and versions above it. TronWeb is also compatible with browsers that have more than 0.25% of the market share and can be shipped in a Chrome extension as well. The Tron Foundation has further stated that the API is suitable for frontend frameworks like Angular, React and Vue.

Both the TronWeb API as well as TronBox tool are integrations that will be provided by the Tron Virtual Machine which was officially launched on 30th August. The Tron team have also said that they are working on a new depository wherein developers can find all information in relation to Tron’s blockchain.
