Justin Sun, the Founder of Tron Foundation unveiled the secret project of the Foundation. The entire Tron community has been eagerly waiting for the announcement of the secret project with the majority speculating about the project as well.

Justin Sun said:

“Finally, I would like to say a few things about our project, our secret project, now we name it Atlas, after the BitTorrent aquisition.”

Project Atlas would be an integration of BitTorrent and Tron. The Foundation has completed the initial computing and updated the roadmap for the next three months and the details pertaining to it will be released by the end of August.

The Foundation is exploring the possibility of improving the BitTorrent protocol with the help of Tron protocol in order to make it faster and lengthen the lifespan of BitTorrent swarms. They aim to improve the current Altruism with the integration of Tron network to BitTorrent. At present, there are no incentives for peers who have completed downloading to continue to seed.

The Foundation intends to extend rewards to peers who seed torrents infusing more resources into the Torrent ecosystem. The Tron network will serve as the online protocol for Project Atlas. BitTorrent will be the largest application on the Tron network which will allow Tron to surpass Ethereum on daily transactions and also become the most influential public blockchain in the world. It will also create a gateway for 100s of million users of the BitTorrent across the world become a part of the Tron ecosystem.

Moreover, the integration is set to add on to the global payment and settlement of the online content. The creators of the content will be able to reach 100s of million users without any intermediaries on the decentralized network.

The project will not be associated with any mining projects and it is not going to have any negative impact on the BitTorrent users. For BitTorrent users, the project is going to strength the current BitTorrent protocol by making it stronger and more competent.

The Founder and CEO of Tron Foundation said:

“Starting from today, Tron will enter a new phase of expanding our current ecosystem. We are grateful for what we have achieved in the past and we are looking forward to seeing what the future holds for us.”

Elvin Michel, a Youtuber Commented:

“This is Great News Guys! TRON/TRX Secret Project: “ATLAS’ BitTorrent & TRON MERGE to make a better platform! Get rewards for seeding!”

BTC Stacker, another Youtuber commented:

“what a colossal waste of time and a failure.. why is it that now after 4 live presentational events that TRON has massively gone down in price… The last time it was 10 cents was 4 months ago and that was before the Testnet launch. Back during the first week of January 2018 it had reached its ATH of 26 cents and that was when it had nothing announced and it was just a ERC20 token.. Now  after 4 events, TRON had gotten less in value each time… This is pissing me off royally..”

He further added:

“Where’s the Point of Sale partnerships showing that it can be used for near real time settlement when making purchases of goods and services?? Even if Bittorent is incorporated into the TRON code and vice-versa that may be great and all, but it’s not getting any massive amounts of people wanting to buy TRON… Do something with TRON that will catch a wider audience and wanting to use it..”

I agree about the price going down since all these announcements. Where is the take over the you tube video world they were going to do? That is why I was initially interested in this project. However, sadly it has all just been hot air seeping from a bag and no earth shattering, price changing news as we had all hoped for.

Charlie Lee, Creator of Litecoin [LTC] and Managing Director of Litecoin Foundation, spoke about projects that allocate mining rewards to developers, in an interview with Laura Shin for Unchained Podcast. He also opined about whether Litecoin’s vision still remained the same or not.

On projects that allocate a percentage of the block reward to developers, Lee stated that it was “okay” as long as the project developers were transparent on this subject, adding that in some cases, this was “needed”. He further stated that it was hard to find developers for Litecoin since, there were not enough funds to pay these developers.

[…] we work on raising money and using money to pay for developers but unlike ICOs or other projects we just don’t have millions sitting from selling our ICO tokens to fund these developers. So, yeah I think projects that do that it’s kind of needed […]”

However, Lee stated that for cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Litecoin that really want to become decentralized money, there cannot be any centralized actions like using mining rewards to pay developers.

This was followed by Lee speaking about Litecoin’s vision and the coin’s use case. On this, Lee stated that the current vision was still “very similar” to the old one, seeing Litecoin as a complement to Bitcoin. He added that Litecoin’s raison d’être was not to replace Bitcoin, unlike some other coins that claim to be the better version of Bitcoin.

“[…] I think it’s trade-off. So, a lot of people don’t talk about the trade-offs people talk about how they have fees are cheaper […] people in support of Bitcoin Cash constantly talk about how Bitcoin Cash transaction fees are like a hundredth of that of Bitcoin but, you get what you pay for right […]”

He further added that Bitcoin’s “security was more than hundred times” that of Bitcoin Cash, irrespective of the hash rate being more or not. Lee remarked that one cannot “attack Bitcoin,” whereas Bitcoin Cash could be “eas[ily] be attacked,” adding that this factor was very important and also the reason for cheaper fees.

“[…] same for Litecoin alright. Litecoin is cheaper and the security is less than Bitcoin […] so people who actually move lots of money they would want to use Bitcoin and I think that’s fine like Litecoin can compliment Bitcoin perfectly fine […]”

Lee stated that this was the reason he agreed with Lightning Network, arguing that it was good for both Bitcoin and Litecoin. He stated that Lightning not only helps them scale, but also enables cross-chain atomic swaps, allowing people to swap two different coins instantly and easily in a decentralized manner.
