WTF Summit: Mobilizing the crypto industry against the global “Fraudemic”: A call for action from Singapore

Sumsub, a global verification and anti-fraud provider, is launching its inaugural What The Fraud Summit (WTF Summit) in Singapore on November 19-20, 2025. The visionary summit will bring together more than 500 leaders from the crypto, fintech, and compliance sectors to tackle the rising threat of crypto-focused fraud undermining industry confidence and adoption worldwide.

WTF Summit is designed as a dedicated platform to address the toughest challenges in fraud prevention, AI security, regulatory shifts, and compliance. It aims to build the future of digital trust across Asia-Pacific (APAC) and beyond—uniting regulators and industry to develop coordinated strategies through bold conversations and hands-on workshops.

Asia-Pacific: Setting the standard in crypto fraud prevention

Sumsub’s State of the Crypto Industry 2025 report reveals that APAC continues to lead global efforts against crypto fraud, recording a 23% drop in fraud rates from 2023 to 2024—the only region to see a reduction in crypto-related fraud. In APAC, the average fraud rates across crypto platforms are now just 2%, with Hong Kong and Singapore posting even lower figures at 1.1% and 1.4% respectively, thanks to strengthened regulations and innovative fraud prevention technologies.

Globally, the scenario is starkly different: fraud in the crypto industry surged by 48%, now accounting for 2.2% of all verification attempts. Document forgery (31%), phishing (20%), money muling (15%), account takeover (14%), and forced verification (12%) are the most prevalent attack types observed worldwide.

Recognizing the urgency, the WTF Summit will provide crypto leaders, regulators, and experts with a collaborative space to exchange real-world strategies and craft robust solutions for a safer digital asset ecosystem.
