XRP holds above $1 – Could a short squeeze catch bears off guard?

XRP’s setup is getting tighter as whale buying and rising liquidity put a potential short squeeze in focus.

XRP is being ignored - Could a short squeeze change that?

Is the market seeing XRP as undervalued relative to other risk assets?

A few key signals suggest it could be. According to RippleXity, whales have recently accumulated 380 million XRP, with buying concentrated around the key $1 psychological level. XRP has also closed above $1 for 632 straight days, its longest stretch above that level, adding more weight to the whale accumulation story.

Notably, the technicals are starting to back this up too. On the daily chart, XRP’s RSI is sitting around the neutral 50 level while almost everything else is already looking overbought. Bitcoin [BTC], Ethereum [ETH], Solana [SOL], and BNB are all stretched into overbought or strong territory. XRP, meanwhile, is just sitting around 50, relatively ignored.

In this setup, the growing bullish signals around Ripple [XRP] start to carry more weight.

The timing also lines up with another key setup. According to the 24H liquidation heatmap on CoinGlass, XRP has seen a solid liquidity cluster build around $1.06-$1.07 throughout the week, even as the price chopped down toward $1.00. RSI remains neutral, while whale accumulation appears to be picking up.

But the story isn’t just about the technicals. As a Layer 1 network, capital flowing back into the ecosystem could further strengthen the undervaluation case for XRP. So the big question is: Could these flows turn the squeeze into a full-blown parabolic move, putting $1.15 back in focus as XRP’s August target?

XRP bullish signals strengthen as liquidity builds

Liquidity is shaping up to be a key catalyst for Ripple this cycle.

And the timing matters. Aviva Investors just tokenized a fund on XRPL. Its USD Liquidity Fund now has a tokenized share class for institutional investors. That’s another sign that institutional capital is starting to flow deeper into the XRPL ecosystem. And the impact is already showing up: RWA asset value on XRPL is up more than 28% over the past 30 days, pointing to growing traction in tokenized assets.

Now, this is where the liquidity backdrop starts to matter. As the chart below shows, total stablecoin market cap on XRPL has jumped more than 12% in the last 24 hours, adding more than $100 million in net flows and pushing the total market cap closer to the $1 billion mark. If that liquidity continues to build, it could become an important catalyst for XRP as the broader market rotates back into risk.

Notably, this further strengthens the undervaluation case for XRP.

The logic is simple: XRP is seeing strong fundamental growth and rising capital flows across the ecosystem, but the technicals still haven’t fully caught up. Its neutral RSI stands out against much of the altcoin market, where several major assets are already looking stretched.

At the same time, whale accumulation is picking up, suggesting the market may finally be starting to price in that gap. If this trend holds, XRP could be setting up for a short squeeze, with a move back toward $1.15 coming sooner than expected.

Final Summary

  • Whale buying, neutral RSI, and rising liquidity suggest XRP could be ready for a bigger move.
  • Stronger stablecoin flows and XRPL growth could fuel a short squeeze toward $1.15.
