‘Ethics’ meets crypto – Why Trump-linked WLFI is under pressure
WLFI's sell-off clashes with the market's bullish CLARITY Act narrative.
There was a time when ethics and crypto rarely crossed paths.
The recent amendment to the CLARITY Act clearly shows just how much the industry has evolved.
As AMBCrypto previously explained, the new ethics provision introduces stricter rules for high-profile public officials, limiting their ability to own or benefit from certain crypto assets. That makes it more than a routine amendment. Instead, it puts crypto ownership itself under the spotlight.
One project already reflecting this shift is WLFI crypto, which is linked to the U.S. President Donald Trump’s family.
Since the announcement, WLFI’s [World Liberty Financial] technical and on-chain setup has started to weaken, showing how closely the market now ties “ethics” to who owns a crypto asset. That has put the Trump family directly in focus.

From a technical standpoint, WLFI reacted almost immediately.
As the chart above highlights, the token dropped over 5%, with its lowest wick touching $0.0513. In just one session, the sell-off dragged WLFI back to price levels last seen in early May, highlighting the market’s cautious reaction to the ownership narrative.
Notably, the same story played out on-chain.
Deep Blue Alpha tracked 163 WLFI whale wallets across 1,224 trades over the last 30 days, with $12.72 million in inflows versus $13.25 million in outflows, leaving a net outflow of $531.7k, and a 49% buy ratio. Sentiment deteriorated even further over the last 24 hours, with net outflows reaching $351k on just a 22% buy ratio.
In essence, whales shifted aggressively toward selling, suggesting large holders were quick to de-risk.
Given WLFI’s direct ties to the Trump family, it wasn’t surprising to see the market connect the sell-off to the ethics provision in the CLARITY Act. So, while the amendment increases the odds of the CLARITY Act passing, World Liberty Financial’s [WLFI] reaction suggests traders are pricing in a different risk.
WLFI’s price action diverges from the market’s CLARITY Act optimism
President Trump’s latest financial disclosures have once again put WLFI in the spotlight.
As AMBCrypto previously reported, Trump’s crypto ventures generated an estimated $1.4 billion in 2025, with WLFI contributing a significant share of the Trump family’s crypto-related income.
That makes WLFI’s breakdown especially relevant, as it suggests the Trump family is already pricing in the implications of the new ethics provision. Even so, the market hasn’t fully bought into the amendment as a bullish catalyst.
As the chart below shows, the market now puts just a 40% chance of the CLARITY Act being signed into law in 2026, down from nearly 50% earlier this week.
Despite the revised draft addressing the ethics provision, traders continue to price in uncertainty around the bill’s path forward.

That’s where the ownership factor begins to matter.
As mentioned earlier, the ethics provision puts the Trump family’s crypto ownership under scrutiny.
This comes after Trump’s crypto ventures generated $1.4 billion in 2025.
However, the lack of bullish momentum around the CLARITY Act suggests the market may not view WLFI’s sell-off as a purely bullish signal.
The logic is simple: Traders are now considering whether the ethics provision could create friction around the bill’s approval. In this context, the muted reaction around the CLARITY Act could be an early warning sign. The market may be worried that this provision could complicate the bill’s path forward.
Final Summary
- WLFI is seeing more selling as the market reacts to the new ethics rules.
- The CLARITY Act remains a bullish catalyst, but traders worry the ethics provision could slow its approval.
