Cardano’s x402 move could change ADA’s Q4 outlook – Here’s how!

Cardano’s development push is strong, but can it sustain ADA’s outperformance?

Cardano’s x402 move could change ADA’s Q4 outlook – Here’s how!

Cardano appears to be diverging from the general market trend.

Technically, ADA is up more than 8% this month thus far, setting up for another great rally after jumping nearly 17% last month. While it still trails Ethereum’s 30% gain in August, it could potentially surpass the leading rival’s performance in Q4 to emerge as one of the top altcoins for the year.

But what appears to be the reason for this jump?

According to the post below, the Cardano network has officially integrated the x402 codebase via a working implementation. This implies that x402 payments are now supported on Cardano’s mainnet, preprod and preview testnet, putting the network at a key position as blockchain-based payments continue to evolve.

Naturally, the question is asked: Why does this matter?

A recent report from AMBCrypto showed that Solana leads the field in terms of x402 payments by volume. Notably, almost 80% of x402 payments occurred on the network.

Solana had recently overtaken Base as the largest blockchain for x402 Transactions.

Cardano’s implementation gives developers access to the same AI-powered payment use case.

However, code support alone may not generate network demand. Cardano must still attract developers, applications and payment volume. That adoption could give ADA a fresh catalyst heading into Q4.

Cardano’s 2026 buildout is starting to show on the charts

Cardano appears to be positioning 2026 as a period of significant advancement.

The Leios scaling upgrade, which is set to boost the blockchain’s throughput and overall performance, is a critical component of the roadmap. Coupled with the integration of x402, the upgrades hint that Cardano is laying the groundwork for the next stage in ADA’s development trajectory.

Notably, this strength now appears to be translating into on-chain performance too.

As discussed in the preceding section, ADA is outpacing most of the major high-cap assets in terms of monthly performance, up by approximately 8%.

The most interesting observation, however, is that the ADA/ETH ratio is posting its first monthly green performance following three consecutive months of declines, indicating that Cardano is gaining ground over Ethereum.

Interestingly, the DeFi space of Cardano is gaining momentum as well.

According to DeFiLlama data, Cardano’s total stablecoin market cap increased by almost 5% this week, which means that almost $3 million was added to the liquidity of the network. With x402 payments now integrated, the liquidity increase appears to be more than a flash in the pan.

Hence, with Cardano’s development progressing and it being integrated into a payments-focused future, ADA’s recent outperformance could merely be the beginning. Should this trend continue, then the ADA/ETH ratio has the potential to break out soon.

Final Summary

  • Cardano’s x402 integration could boost its role in AI-powered payments.
  • Leios, stronger DeFi liquidity, and ADA’s gains point to growing momentum.
