Events meet blockchain: PhoenixDAO’s dApp promotes secure-ticketing

COVID-19 left the events industry in terrible shape. Empty stadiums canceled concerts, and entire sports leagues on hiatus led to massive amounts of lost money and opportunities.

But as nations and cities worldwide begin to embrace events at stadiums and arenas once again, some hope the changing times will lead to positive changes within the world of event management.

“Ticketing was broken”, explains National Association of Ticket Brokers Executive Director Gary Adler. “It was an awful and ugly situation for consumers. I hope when we come out of this, there will be a return to customer-first.”

One of the most notable post-pandemic changes has been an acceleration towards mobile ticketing and cashless experiences at events. The U.S. Events Safety Alliance released a Reopening Guide in 2020 advising the inclusion of self-service kiosks at ticketed events and underscored the benefits of electronic tickets to mitigate the spread of diseases like COVID-19.

Decentralized applications (dApps) are notable newer technological pieces helping foster a better ticketing experience. dApps provide a cheaper and more secure way to buy, sell, exchange, and store tickets than traditional online ticketing platforms. The lack of a middleman ensures low or zero transaction fees. The security of dApps vastly reduces the risks of fraud or counterfeit tickets.

PhoenixDAO ranks as one of the leaders within the dApp field, pioneering a secure ticketing solution. The events dApp is built on Polygon’s slide scaling solution – relying on Layer2 solutions instead of just the already-congested Ethereum network.

The blockchain-based events dApp is built using the ERC-721 standard and IPFS technology, making all tickets to be NFTs. The protocol’s unique PHNX-ID ensures ownership remains immutable and helps users carry tickets across any platform.

PhoenixDAO’s Eventbrite-style Marketplace provides a one-stop shop for users interested in purchasing tickets and launching their events. People can use the Events dApp to create a specific event, sell tickets, and collect PHNX tokens as payment.

Marketplace users can also rely on Phoenix’s Identity protocol to verify the authenticity of tickets and peer-to-peer transfers as they secure tickets with cryptocurrency. The transparent and fraud-proof ticketing and management platform are designed to help event coordinators and hosts maximize revenue.

Blocktix.io is another platform designed to help people create their events on the blockchain and ensure tickets are sold and bought safely. The Blocktix team explains how “100% of all ticket holders are identified and associated with their respective tickets.” Linking tickets and uniquely attributing them mitigates fraud and potential pitfalls associated with off-exchange distribution.

Event promoters using Blocktix can also add conditional logic to each managed ticket. Those taking advantage of Blocktix’s platform gain access to a local and active community of fellow users interested in engaging with local events.

Users who take advantage of the Elastos ticketing dApp and have their own Elastos Decentralized Identities (DID) can log into the platform and buy tickets using tokens. Every ticket is linked to a specific buyer’s DID, ensuring transparency and accountability.

DID is just one portion of the Elastos ecosystem, which includes a range of decentralized tools incorporated into a range of products. Elastos also offers decentralized storage, a consensus-based governance mechanism known as the Cyber Republic, the Elastos main chain, sidechain architecture, and a peer-to-peer network. The sidechain architecture helps the ticketing dApp accommodate many users logging in and transacting without any scalability issues.

Overall, dApps continue to lead the way in offering secure, easy-to-use, and effective ticketing solutions for users interested in buying and selling securely. As the events industry continues to expand in breadth, dApps only looks set to be an enticing tool as companies work to promote secure and safe ticketing solutions.
