HYPE loses $80 support as team distributions, institutional selling weigh on price — Details
HYPE’s recovery faces a critical test on the price charts.
Hyperliquid [HYPE] fell below the $80-mark, a week after reclaiming the level as support. In fact, institutions are continuing to sell the altcoin too. Even though the team has been countering the selling pressure through token burns.
In the last 24 hours alone, HyperLabs distributed over 179K HYPE worth about $14.50 million to six team members’ wallets. The distribution was uneven, with these tokens unstaked about two days ago. These wallets are the ones to watch for potential selling pressure.

However, the protocol’s burn mechanism provided a counterweight to the new supply hitting the markets. Over 21K HYPE, worth about $1.64 million, was bought and burned at an average price of $77.93.
Hyperliquid Strategies Inc.’s regulatory ambitions in the U.S
Meanwhile, a subsidiary of Hyperliquid Strategies Inc. (HSI) filed an application with the U.S Commodities Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to become a Futures commission merchant. At the time of writing, the filing was still awaiting approval.

If approved, U.S clients could trade Perpetual Futures on a regulated platform, though there will be no definitive timing just yet. The HSI, meanwhile, reported $620.6 million in profits for the third quarter of this year. An approval would increase these profits in the next few sessions.
HYPE extends drawdown after Paradigm’s unstaking
On the price charts, HYPE entered a downtrend, even though it was still confined in a sideways range. After Paradigm’s unstaking, the altcoin fell to around $80 and went on to break down the support. It established a low of $76 before entering a short pullback to the upside.
At press time, HYPE was trading towards the broken support at $80, potentially for a retest. Technically, it suggested that bears were in control, with the CMF showing capital flight as its reading stood at -0.19.
This reading was reinforced by the Directional Movement Index (DMI), with its three main lines all pointing south.

In short, HYPE has been facing conflicting signals lately.
Institutions have been unstaking despite looming regulatory clarity. Therefore, HYPE could hold above $75, a support level that has been in place for the last two months if bullish signals prevail.
Otherwise, if the level breaks down, it would set a precedent for demand zones at $70, $60, or lower.
Final Summary
- HyperLabs distributed over $14.50M in HYPE to six team members’ wallets after unstaking as token burns countered the induced selling pressure.
- HSI pursuing regulatory ambitions in the U.S, even as HYPE’s price lost key support levels.
