Polygon adds Solana support for stablecoin payments and bank payouts

Solana payment apps and marketplaces can use Polygon’s platform to accept funds, manage stablecoins and arrange withdrawals through supported channels.

Polygon adds Solana support for stablecoin payments and bank payouts

Polygon has expanded its Open Money Stack payment platform to Solana, allowing businesses on the network to connect bank payments, stablecoin balances, and cash withdrawals. This was according to the company announcement on October 29, and it said the services are live.

The users now get an additional avenue to deal with how money enters and leaves Solana. The business takes a standard payment and moves it as stablecoins to then organize a payment out to banks, etc., and other systems that it supports.

From a bank payment to a Solana balance

Polygon said its service would cover multiple stages of accepting a payment. Businesses would be able to accept deposits via bank transfers, cards, cash, or crypto and then convert funds into digital assets on Solana, the announcement said.

Polygon says its platform also supports customer wallets that are built into apps.

Getting money to the recipient

The payment and receipt of stablecoins is one part of the payment journey. A supplier/seller may need the money in a bank account to make payments for business expenditure.

Polygon said that when a stablecoin is involved, the integration would transfer the token to a person’s chosen bank account, card, wallet, or cash withdrawal outlet on completion of a stablecoin to fiat money conversion.

The company is looking at fintech firms, payment apps, and marketplaces. The businesses can choose between embracing the company’s platform or only some selected features that work with other businesses they use.

Availability and costs need a closer look

Polygon says its dollar conversion infrastructure is backed by money transmitter licenses across 48 U.S. states.

The announcement didn’t mention where it’s available, the fees, and how fast the payment completion will be.

Polygon also plans to extend Open Money Stack to additional blockchains, although it gave no timetable for those additions.

Final Summary

  • Polygon says Solana businesses can now access its integrated stablecoin payment and payout services.
  • The announcement lists available functions, but it didn’t talk about pricing and where it’s available.
