TAO crypto price consolidates – Why $318 is Bittensor’s next big test

Bittensor’s AI narrative remains strong, but weakening momentum leaves TAO at a critical technical crossroads.

TAO crypto price consolidates - Why $318 is Bittensor's next big test

The price of Bittensor [TAO] is currently consolidating around $302, with support at $295 and resistance at $318. The key shift is no longer just the sideways trading phase but the cooling-off phase after the buyers have made their measured move within the defined range.

TAO successfully broke above the $277.20 resistance level and extended its rally to $341. This was before sellers began taking profits as they stalled much of the breakout momentum.

Bears attempted a sell-off towards $283 in early October but were unable to gain enough momentum to initiate a larger sell-off. This indicates that buyers continue to defend the overall structure.

Since then, shrinking candles and fading volume suggest traders await a catalyst. Therefore, $318 has become the immediate test for renewed momentum, while $295 protects the recovery. If a breakout occurs and increases momentum, there is potential upside to reach target areas of $326 and then $341 next.

Conversely, if prices fall below $295, there will be downward pressure on TAO’s price toward $283 and $277.20.

AI momentum lifts TAO

TAO’s current consolidation comes after a much broader AI-driven rally. It’s worth noting that in September there was significant rotation in capital towards artificial intelligence (AI) blockchain projects. As such, this was evidenced by TAO’s 37% gain during this period.

According to Grayscale’s AI-focused crypto sector basket, the category gained 54% in September, suggesting investors continue to value blockchain technology within an expanding AI economy.

Yet despite that boom, TAO trailed behind NEAR Protocol [NEAR], which gained the most at 183%; Venice Token [VVV] came in second at 70%; and Worldcoin [WLD] at 47%.

This suggested that capital favored other AI narratives more aggressively than TAO.

This creates a clear test for TAO on whether it can convert the broader AI narrative into stronger relative demand. If investors increasingly value decentralized AI infrastructure, TAO could attract fresh capital and narrow that performance gap.

Conversely, if the trend does not continue, then TAO may become less competitive within the rapidly expanding space of AI. Therefore, September strengthened TAO’s narrative, but sustained inflows must validate it.

Final Summary

  • Bittensor gained 37% as the AI crypto sector surged 54%, but stronger relative demand is needed to sustain its narrative.
  • TAO needs a volume-backed break above $318 to turn AI momentum into a renewed move toward $341.
