NEAR technical analysis: Price recovers as bulls make a comeback

NEAR has greatly benefitted from an increased interest in the fusion of artificial intelligence (AI) and cryptocurrency. This dynamism lays the groundwork for an intriguing price prediction for Near Protocol in 2024.

The price chart for NEAR revealed a period of struggle earlier on as the price sought to break through the $2.0 resistance. In mid-April, NEAR briefly surpassed this mark, only to experience a dip shortly thereafter. 
 

This marked the beginning of a series of declines. These continuous drops eventually drove the price down to its lowest support level of $1.0 by mid-August. Mid-October witnessed another concerted effort by the bulls to propel the price upwards. 

The price tested the $2.0 resistance in late November, and the bulls’ persistence paid off in December when the price finally broke through. During the mid-month, a significant pump saw the token test a new $4.0 resistance level. 
 

The rally was followed by a pullback. Still, the bulls strategically curtailed further declines by establishing a support level at $2.7 towards the end of January. This maneuver was indicative of a market correction rather than the inception of a downtrend.

From February, the price resumed its northbound journey along with the broader market. This momentum turned $4.0 into support by the end of the month. Back-to-back surges in March pushed the altcoin over the high resistance at $7.5
 

Nonetheless, by the end of the month, the token was positioned back below this resistance due to a corrective drop. At the beginning of Q2 2024, the token shed some of its gains. Notably, with the market recovering, NEAR wasn't left behind. As per CoinMarketCap, it saw an uptick of 24% over the last week. At the time of writing, the AI token traded at $6.6.

This momentum not only supports a short-term outlook where reclaiming $7.5 appears within reach but also suggests the potential for the altcoin to ascend as high as $10.2 with a more optimistic target of $15.0. Yet, the former might pose a significant challenge to further upside, given its importance as a psychological mark.
 

However, the presence of bearish players cannot be overlooked. Despite this, the strong uptrend suggests that any declines could be limited, potentially halting at the $5.6 mark. A more bearish scenario could see the price tumble to $4.0.

The long-term outlook for NEAR is optimistic, with prediction models forecasting significant growth. By 2027, the token is projected to trade at an average price exceeding $100, with expectations for this figure to increase tenfold by 2031, reaching more than $1600. Such projections indicate that NEAR is poised to surpass its all-time high (ATH) soon and set new records, highlighting its promising future in the cryptocurrency market.

NEAR's 2024 roadmap: Key indicators to watch and trade

• The Bollinger Bands remained majorly contracted until late October. Additionally, the price fell below the 20-week moving average (MA) in mid-April and remained below this threshold until October. Price candles broke above the upper band in November, leading to an expansion of the bands. This was further amplified by repeated movements above the upper band in December and then again in March. It was indicative of the asset being overbought.
• At the time of writing, while the price candles were below the upper band, they successfully held above the MA. This suggested a bullish trend in the market.
• The trading volume for NEAR remained low, indicating initial pessimism. Nevertheless, starting in October, a noticeable recovery coincided with the price rally. This alignment suggested that the bullish price action was supported by an influx of traders entering the market. 
• Despite a subsequent decline in volume following a price rejection in January, the volume began to recover in the next month. A similar pattern repeated in mid-March. This recovery reflected a return of interest or optimism among investors.
• The Directional Movement Index (DMI) showed a predominant bearish trend until Q4 2023. The +DI line remained below the -DI, with only a brief upward movement in April.
• The ADX line also stayed below both these lines. In mid-October, both +DI and ADX began ascending, with +DI moving above -DI by the end of October and ADX surpassing -DI by mid-November.
• From January to February, the ADX rose above +DI and reclaimed this position in mid-March. During the analysis, the ADX stood at 45.1175, +DI at 26.8114, and -DI at 15.1794. These values confirmed the buyers’ dominance in the market.
